Professional Experience

 

ICON Creative Studio                                                                                                             Vancouver, BC, Canada

ICON Creative Studio is a high end animation studio located in Gastown Vancouver, Canada, housing over 150 storyboarding, modeling, animation, lighting, visual effects and compositing artists alongside full service creative design and management teams . It is currently working on various projects with big name clients such as Disney on shows like Goldie and Bear & Elena of Avalor.  

Series Animation Supervisor ( May 2020- Present)

 

  • Manages 4 teams of highly skilled animators, directors and leads.

  • Reviews all work produced by team members and provides clear and concise creative feedback regarding animation principles, camera moves/angles & composition whether it be in the form of notes, verbal communication and/or draw overs.

  • Responsible for style consistency, quality and delivering episodes on time under tight deadlines. Each episode's animation stage is 12 weeks total, including fix week.

  • Ensures the creative desires and production requirements of the client & company are met.

  • Works closely with Disney producers, directors and other departmental supervisors to ensure the series is successful and all concerns and desires are met in a professional and efficient manner.

  • Possesses the confidence and ability to make decisions and communicate them effectively to team members and other departments in the studio.

  • Responsible for running weeklies meetings with the animation department to provide helpful information regarding animation techniques, show style requirements, and encourage peer collaboration.

  • Involved and/or responsible for making final approvals in Animation, Lighting and FX.

Animation Director (September 2016-March 2020)

  • Manages a team of eleven animators of all skill levels ranging from Junior to Lead.

  • Reviews all work produced by team members and provides clear and concise creative feedback regarding animation principles, camera moves/angles & composition whether it be in the form of notes, verbal communication and/or draw overs.

  • Responsible for casting sequences appropriately, organizing full 22 minute episodes, & determining quota breakdowns for each animator.

  • Responsible for keeping episodes on time in order to hit tight deadlines, while consistently encouraging my team to produce high quality animation for each episode.

  • Ensures the creative desires and production requirements of the client & company are met.

  • Animate as many of my own shots as possible per episode.

  • Possesses the confidence and ability to make decisions and communicate them effectively to team members and other departments in the studio.

  • Works efficiently with other departments to solve current and/or potential issues.

  • Submitted by Disney to the Primetime Emmy's as a potential nominee for 2017 and 2018 for 'Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation'

  • Responsible for making final approvals in Animation, Lighting and FX

Bardel rose to be one of the biggest studios in North America. Working on TV and film for clients such as Dreamworks, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Netflix, Nickelodeon and more.

 

Senior Animator (July 2014-April 2015)

  • Animated on the shows Veggie Tales & Puss 'n' Boots  

  • Produced expressive and entertaining animation within tight deadlines and high quotas  

  • Animated DVD specials and marketing promotions  

  • Assisted fellow colleagues with animation tips and tricks to further animation production and workflow  

  • Possesses and demonstrates excellent understanding of animation principles and work flow

Nerdcorps Entertainment, Inc. (DHX)                                                                                Vancouver, BC, Canada

One of the largest TV Animation studios in North America who have been globally successful with TV shows/TV movies such as Monster High, Slugterra, Storm Hawks, Max Steel, Endangered Species and League of Super Evil. While at Nerdcorps I was chosen as a ‘PA Pick ’ for an animation sequence I completed for Endangered Species. PA picks are sequences in recently finalized episodes that stand out due to high quality, creativity and skill.
